Human Resources & Payroll

Human Resources is charged with the delivery and coordination of employee services including health care, retirement, workers compensation, and other employee benefits. The staff maintains management records which includes position descriptions, classification specifications, applicant data, disciplinary records, and personnel files. Recruitment, interviewing, testing, background investigations, and hiring of applicants are coordinated through Human Resources.

Human Resources also coordinates the Sheriff's affirmative actions programs and policies. The staff prepares legal documentation for administrative and other legal hearings or actions. Human Resources is also responsible for the development of office policies addressing such areas as affirmative action, labor relations, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act.

Payroll is responsible for tabulating and keying daily payroll information to ensure that employees are paid properly to include wages and deduction requirements for taxes, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
