Sheriff Dallas Baldwin states that the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal injury traffic crash that occurred at approximately 6:56 am on 7/28/2026. A Red 2025 Ford Mustang was westbound on US40. approaching Alton Darby Creek Rd. A 2025 White Kenworth Fed X semi tractor trailer was eastbound on US40. The Kenworth made a turn onto northbound Alton Darby Creek Rd. in front of the Ford Mustang, causing the mustang to strike the Kenworth on the passenger side. Deputies from Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and Medics from Prairie Township Fire responded to the scene. The Ford came to rest facing westbound in the ditch on the northwest corner of the intersection. The Kenworth stopped in the intersection blocking all east and west bound lanes. The driver of the Kenworth was transported to Grant Hospital by Prairie Twp. Medic #243. The driver of each vehicle were the only occupants. The driver of the Ford was pronounced deceased by Prairie Twp Medic #243 on scene at 7:05 am.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the crash.
