Fugitive Squad

The Warrants and Extraditions Unit of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office is responsible for arresting suspects wanted on outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants.  The warrants are issued through the Franklin County Common Pleas Court, the Municipal Clerk of Courts and the Victim Witness Assistance Unit. Additionally, the Warrants and Extraditions Unit handles warrant requests from law enforcement agencies nationwide.

The deputies assigned to this unit extradite prisoners from all over the United States and safely return them to Franklin County to ensure justice is served to those who commit crimes in Franklin County.  The deputies are also responsible for assisting in Extradition Court Hearings for those who have been arrested locally and have outstanding fugitive warrants.

The Warrants and Extraditions Unit is dedicated to collaborating with the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and several other agencies - both government and non-profit organizations - to promote a seamless and cohesive response to victims of violent crimes, as well as provide services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

The Warrants and Extraditions Unit also works closely with the Franklin County Probate Court and NetCare Access.  The deputies serve probate warrants; locating the probated person and transporting the probated person to NetCare Access or a local hospital for mental health and medical evaluations.  They also transport the probated person from hospitals and mental health facilities to Twin Valley Behavior Healthcare Hospital (TVBH) for Probate Court hearings and safely return them to the facility in which they are being housed.

Personnel assigned to the Warrants and Extradition Unit currently consist of one Lieutenant, one Sergeant, seven full-time deputies, and one full-time secretary.  Additionally, two full-time deputies and one part-time secretary handle the Child Support Enforcement Unit.

Child Support Enforcement Unit

The Child Support Enforcement Unit of the Sheriff's Office is responsible for arresting suspects wanted on outstanding Nonsupport warrants issued in Franklin County from the Common Pleas Court, Juvenile Court and Domestic Relations Court, as well as Nonsupport warrant requests from law enforcement agencies nationwide.  The deputies assigned to this unit are also responsible for picking up out of County and out of State prisoners and returning them safely to Franklin County.

Personnel assigned to the Child Support Unit work closely with Franklin County Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA), the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office, and the Sheriff's Office Fugitive Squad.
