Training Academy

The Training Academy is responsible for the training of all Franklin County Deputies and the Basic Training for newly recruited Cadets. The current rank structure of the Training Academy consists of (1) Lieutenant, (3) Sergeants, (8) full time Instructors and (2) Administrative Assistants. All full time Instructors are certified through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council. In addition to this the Training Academy utilizes Deputies in other divisions to be guest Instructors for various topics. The Training Academy is located at 6347 Young Rd. Grove City, Ohio. The Academy grounds consist of a Shooting Range, Main Building, and Search House.

 

Main Building

The Main Building of the Training Academy is a state of the art facility comprised of (3) Classrooms, (2) Scenarios Rooms, a Full Court Gymnasium, and a Fitness Room. The Gymnasium and Fitness Room are accessible 24 hours for all members of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. The Gymnasium is also used to host a variety of FCSO events including ceremonies, seminars, and conferences.

 

 

Firing Range

The Firing Range facility consists of two lecture rooms, a five lane 100 yard Rifle Range, a twenty-two lane 75 foot pistol range, weapons maintenance workstations, and a virtual “Shoot, Don’t Shoot” Simulator.  The Firing Range is used by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, as well as numerous federal and local law enforcement agencies, throughout the year for shooting and other various tactical trainings.  The Firing Range is staffed by two full-time instructors, one full-time Sergeant, and multiple other instructors on a rotating basis

 

 

Search House

The Search House is frequently used by members from the FCSO S.W.A.T. Team and K-9 Units. Inside the Search House Deputies can train on various scenarios and searching techniques. K-9 handlers also work with their K-9 partners in drug and bomb detection.
