During the opening ceremony of the 2026 Franklin County Fair, Sheriff Dallas Baldwin swore in three new Franklin County K9s.
The K9s took their sworn oath by holding their right paw up, vowing to protect and serve Franklin County.
The K9s are Koda, Legend and Maverick. Koda and Legend are brothers and both serve as Crisis K9s for the sheriff’s office, helping to respond to emergencies and even work with their handlers as school resource officers.
Maverick is an ambassador dog, working with our recruitment team to meet people and attend community events.
All three K9s were also given a certificate and dog licenses by Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano.
There are now eight Crisis K9s in the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, which is the largest unit in the country.
