On February 8, 2026, at approximately 10:40 p.m., deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a deceased individual at a residence in the 200 block of Postle Boulevard in Prairie Township.

Upon arrival, deputies located 72-year-old Harold Everette Moore suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Fire Department medics responded to the scene and pronounced Mr. Moore deceased at 11:08 p.m.

Detectives with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office determined that several valuable items, including the victim's vehicle, had been stolen from the residence.

On February 9, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Franklin County Sheriff's Office patrol deputies located the stolen vehicle traveling on West Broad Street in Columbus.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop and detained the driver, identified as 44-year-old Roger Daugherty. Through their investigation, detectives linked Daugherty to the homicide.

Investigators determined that Daugherty had gone to the victim's residence with the intent to commit a burglary and, during the commission of that offense, fatally shot Mr. Moore.

Detectives determined the incident was a targeted crime and not a random act of violence.

Daugherty was charged with Murder, Aggravated Burglary, and Tampering with Evidence.

He remains incarcerated at the Franklin County Jail.

Update: As the investigation continued, Franklin County Sheriff's Office detectives identified additional individuals who assisted Daugherty after the homicide by helping conceal evidence related to the crime and/or by receiving property stolen from the burglary.

On July 9, 2026, those individuals were taken into custody and charged in connection with their alleged involvement in the case. The following individuals were arrested:

• Misty Collins (38), charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Tampering with Evidence

• Samantha Berry (35), charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Tampering with Evidence

• Samantha Irwin (43), charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Tampering with Evidence

• Christopher Reed (49), charged with Receiving Stolen Property

• Elisabeth Tobin (41), charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Tampering with Evidence

• Mike Redding (49), charged with Receiving Stolen Property

This investigation reflects the dedication and persistence of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office detectives, whose efforts resulted in the identification and apprehension of those responsible.

Their work has helped bring accountability to this tragic crime and provide a measure of closure to the victim's family.

Investigators are still seeking the arrest of one additional individual identified as 48-year-old Terry Riggle.

He is described as a male white, 5'8" tall and approximately 148lbs. He is also wanted in connection with the February 8, 2026, homicide of Harold Moore.
