The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce the launch of a new smartphone app to give people in the community access to important safety information and resources.
“It’s the way everybody conducts business nowadays,” says Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin. “Everyone has a smartphone. You take your phone out, you punch on an app, and all the information is there. And for us, information provides safety, and that’s the most important part.”
The new app, produced by TheSheriffApp.com, will allow people in and around Franklin County to sign up for alerts to get real-time updates about road closures, weather conditions, major crimes and more.
In addition to alerts, the FCSO app provides users with easy access to important information, like the registered sex offenders map, the jail inmate roster, and community programs and resources. It also allows people in the community to submit tips or provide feedback.
Users can also read about each of the eight divisions at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, learn more about what each division does, and follow the latest news from the agency. The goal is to make it easier for people to find the crucial information they need and stay connected.
Sheriff Baldwin hopes the FCSO app will help with recruitment as well. The main menu features a “Join Our Team” button, where people can quickly learn what it takes to become a deputy sheriff or find a civilian position at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and fill out the application online.
Sheriff Baldwin says, “It’s just a way of getting more information about our agency to the public in a much quicker method.”
The app is free to download in your app store, just search "Franklin County Sheriff Ohio."
