Missing 7-year-old Boy Found Safe After Search in Pleasant Township

Friday, July 25, 2025

A 7-year-old boy was found safe after a nearly 2-hour long search this morning in Pleasant Township.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was one of multiple agencies who responded after the boy, who has autism, was reported missing from a home on Harrisburg Georgesville Road just after 10:00 a.m. The child is known to love water, so crews were searching in the area of Osprey Lake.

Dozens of deputies from our Patrol Units, K9s, Dive Team and Drone Unit all responded, along with Grove City Police, Pleasant Township Fire, Columbus RREACT, Columbus Metro Parks, and Jackson Township Fire. In total, at least five drones and CPD’s chopper were used in the search.

Just before noon, the child was found safe in high weeds by the owner of a property along Harrisburg Georgesville Road, about half of a mile away from the boy’s home. He was then reunited with his family.

We want to thank all of the agencies who responded quickly and worked hard to make sure this child was brought home safely.
