Bomb Squad

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad works under the Support Services Division and is a FEMA Type I Certified unit, providing explosive incident response across 36 counties (EMA Regions 4,7 and 8) in Ohio. The squad is trained and equipped to respond to a wide range of explosive-related threats, including:

  • Explosives / Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)
  • Suspicious packages
  • Recovered explosives
  • Incendiary devices
  • Commercial fireworks
The team also supports state and federal agencies during special events, including VIP and dignitary protection details.
In addition to operational duties, the Bomb Squad provides training to law enforcement agencies and delivers public safety presentations to civic groups and private industry on bomb scene safety, search procedures, and explosive identification.
The Bomb Squad is currently comprised of:
  • 1 Sergeant
  • 9 Deputies
  • 3 Explosive Detection K-9s
All team members are extensively trained and certified to handle a wide range of explosive-related incidents, ensuring the highest level of safety and professionalism.
