Franklin County Sheriff's Office Therapy k9 Program

The FCSO Therapy K9 program features select canines and law enforcement personnel that are trained to provide an outlet from the mental, physical, or psychological effects of experienced trauma.

This program was established in 2017, with Mattis K. Nine, who became the first law enforcement therapy K9 in the State of Ohio and the sixth in the nation.  Due to the program's overwhelming success, we have expanded to currently have five K9s on our team.

Since its inception, the Therapy K9 program has received requests to join victims’ assistance efforts from various victim's advocacy groups and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies from across Central Ohio and the country. The program continues to expand, improve, and ultimately allows FCSO to offer yet another innovative tool for assistance and community engagement to Franklin County's communities.
