Heroes in Action: Deputies Save Infant's Life

Thursday, February 13, 2025

When seconds mattered most, three Franklin County Sheriff's deputies sprang into action to save a baby’s life on December 19, 2024.

It was a Thursday night, just before midnight, when Deputy Tischler heard a call for service about an infant that had stopped breathing near Obetz. He was not far from the location, so he responded immediately, and was on the scene within one minute.

Deputy Tischler utilized the LifeVac device and took turns with Deputy Dillon to administer CPR until medics arrived, while Deputy Finley and Obetz officers helped to control the chaotic scene. Hamilton Township Medics took the infant to Children's Hospital in critical condition, and doctors say he is expected to make a full recovery.

The deputies' quick response and CPR training made all the difference. In this video, hear firsthand from one of the deputies about that critical moment—and why knowing CPR is a skill everyone should have.

At the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, we prioritize CPR training for our cadets, but this life-saving knowledge is just as important for the public. You never know when you might be the one to make a difference. You can learn more about where to take a CPR class at https://www.redcross.org/local/ohio/take-a-class
